Public Communication and Collusion: New Screening Tools for Competition Authorities

Geza Sapi is Senior Economist for Cartels at the Directorate-General for Competition (DG COMP) of the European Commission. His work focuses on developing analytical, quantitative, and data-driven methods to detect and prosecute cartels. Prior to his current role, he spent more than ten years in DG COMP’s Chief Economist Team, working on merger, antitrust, state aid, and cartel cases. He holds a PhD in Industrial Organization from the Düsseldorf Institute for Competition Economics (DICE) and DIW Berlin, and previously worked at the Hungarian Competition Authority. He has published extensively on topics in competition economics in leading academic journals.
